OSX & Windows Simultaneous Release
Man it’s been a long time since we had some decent Spore news!
Luckily today during the much-anticipated MacWorld expo in San Francisco, EA announced that they’ll be releasing Spore on OS X and Windows simultaneously.
This is a huge win for me (an avid Mac user) and a smart move by EA. It’s also a great sign that they’re starting to talk about Spore again — I’m anticipating the EA hype machine should start revving it’s engine in the coming weeks in anticipation for an early Spring release.
Good to have something worth talking about again!

Countdown to Spore
Spore is one of the most epic games to ever hit the market. At GDC '05 we saw our first glimpse of Spore and have been eagerly waiting in anticipation since. The current estimated actual release date is September 7, 2008.

Who cares if it only has 3 games? if spore is one of them, what else would you need?
tbh, spore will be the only game i play for the next few years, assuming they release it for psp too!

This news makes me very happy. Every time I watched a video about Spore, I kept thinking how much it “felt” like a mac title.

What is unfortunate about this, is this came out 3 days ago and xspore picked up on it. I have always enjoied totalspore more then xspore. This is why I here by unofficially oficially declare that I should be given executive privliges over this website.

Why do some people like MACs so much better? Will someone explain to me why it’s better?

Macs are better because they are more stable, more secure, simpler, easy to use, and have lots of fun applications, all made with the same ideal of simple intuitive interfaces. The problem way back then was, their marketing department and business-contracts-team had all the weight of a feather’s shadow, so more businesses and national school systems had 2-3x more Windows machines than Macs, if at all.
Lately, this trend has started changing, but it’ll be a while until it’s anywhere near equal. Heck, I’ve been to University of Georgia, Georgia State, AND Georgia Tech, and I’ve yet to see a single Linux OS outside of the sysadmin’s desk. Georgia Perimeter doesn’t even have Macs.

Well I cant wait for spore!Besides why is everyone saying macs are beter?We all know windows is better!

If it realeses in Win and Mac then it means that they are using OpenGL witch means it will be playable on Linux under wine. Oh happy joy :D

IM SO HAPPY, I ONLY HAVE A MAC AND I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT 4 MONTHS TO GET SPORE. That isn’t even the worst part us mac users have to worry about, most games don’t come out for our platform yet!

this is fantastic. I was going to go get windows and install it via boot camp via boot camp just so I could be Spore right away, but apparantly that won’t be necessary.

Meh, all this hype about the Mac is driving me nuts.
So lets say that apple does exceed Windows in sale. Things will be fine at first, but soon all of Apples selling points will be gone. More Macs then anything else means more people will design viruses for it, more users means more attention being put on it’s sore spots. Also, Apple will lose it’s “Cool” factor because it has become main-stream.
Besides “simplicity” and “ease” of use are all very relative and really is only determinable by the users taste.

Does any one know if ther’re making it for XBOX 360? I know they’re going to try to make it for every system: xbox, ps3, psp, mac, windows, nintendo. I really care if it comes out for the 360 though.

Hey … but this is a joke!
I’m glad to know that spore will come out for pc and mac at the same time…. but why only for mac intel! when also nintendo wii , ps3, and xbox has an IBM powerpc inside!!!

As a mac user, I’m disappointed that people think we have such few games, but also that you can’t pre-order the mac version. Off that subject, it should be noted that companies like Blizzard and Maxis are quite good at releasing hybrid games, so Universal Binary wouldn’t be so hard to pull off.

I use Windows.
So, May 1st is the official release date then? I hope so, cause that means it’ll be in time for my b-day on May 24th. Spore is all I want for my b-day. If I can’t get it then I’ll have to wait until Christmas to be able to get it probably, and that would suck.
