Spore demo at SXSW
Will Wright lead the Keynote for SXSW (South by Southwest), an interactive festival held in Austin today. First up, we’ve got a tape of the demo: Props to Zach for the video. There’s more footage coming (of Will Wright talking), but we’ll have to wait for the HD processors to catch up. I’ll keep you [...]

Never-ending soundtrack
It’s been noted by Joystiq that Spore is going to have a quasi-procedural soundtrack behind the game mechanics. What does this mean? It means that Brian Eno has been hired to provide a program that composes bits and pieces of music together to create a soundtrack that doesn’t ever loop! Awesome!
Will Wright to appear on Colbert Report
Rumor has it that Will Wright will be appearing on the Colbert Report December 4th. For those of you who haven’t been following the Colbert Report that often — now’s the perfect time to get started!
Tune in, it’s sure to be a great show!
Advance content editor
When The Sims 2 came out, EA released a small program in advance that let people create their very own Sim well before the game came out. A thought occurred to me — this is the perfect move for EA to do with Spore. It would be nothing short of good business to release an advance content editor in the next few months (in combination with a pre-order of Spore). EA sends out 3-D models of all creatures made in the E3 booth
In a move that shows video game companies still have souls, EA recently started delivering 3-D models of creatures that a few lucky people were able to make at E3 2006. A little after E3, we linked to a Joystiq article showing off some of these cool 3-D models on showcase at E3.
It looks like starting a couple days ago, EA started delivering these personalized creatures to everyone who got to play around with the creature editor. Signs of deliveries are popping up all over as well, so it’s pretty safe to assume that EA is trying to send these out to everyone who had the luxury of using the creature editor at E3.
New game information page
Just a quick note that I just pushed the game information page live tonight.
I know news has been pretty slow around here — but not to worry, I’ve got ideas up my sleeve :) While we’re in the drought of information known as post-E3 there’s plenty of speculating and imagining that can be done. Don’t forget to visit the forums and chat with other Spore addicts!
E3 Recap
E3 was a blur of new information about Spore - but who’s to keep up with it all? Lucky for you I compiled everything I could remember into one huge post here. Let me know if you notice anything missing.
[Better click through on this one, there's a ton of new information!]
Are you ready for E3?
E3 is rushing up on us. In less than a week, the most exciting gaming convention known to man will start. Of course, E3 comes every year - but something else is coming this time. Yes, that’s right folks, Spore is going to be the spotlight for EA.
So much of Spore has been rumored around the internet since Will Wright’s 2005 GDC video that started circulating around a few months ago. But still, so little is known about the game. Sure, there’s rumors here and there - but the big whammy is coming. That’s right folks, E3 is just a little more than a week away - and rumor has it, Spore is going to be promoted heavily.
